Stirring up a hornets nest usually isn’t a good thing, but the Wildcats of Centreville didn’t seem to to bothered as they crushed the hornets throughout their Concorde Districtd dual meet.
The night began well for the Herndon as they stung the Wildcats at 126 and 132. Senior Gabe Pike decisioned Jerry Cowman who was making his season debut as 126 pounds. Jerry had been wrestling at 138, but made the cut to 126, trading places with his brother Josh. At 132, Herndon picked up another decision as Sean Pike beat Connor Mitchell in a back and forth struggle from start to finish. For the next several matches, the Hornets found themselves buzzing around aimlessly having no effect on the CATS of Centreville. The Wildcats squashed the helpless Hornets over the next 5 matches running the score to 27-6. Josh Cowman picked up a decision as did Dillon Dull. At 152 pounds, Will Fulton decisioned Bassamm Estwani giving the Wildcats their first lead of the night. Tyler Love decked Steven Milazzo at 160 pounds, and Ryan Sepulveda took a forfeit at 170 pounds. The last win of the night for Herndon came at 182 pounds where Nick Lomidize stung Connor Howell with a close decision. The Wildcats exterminated what was left of the Hornets nest over the next 6 matches. Senior David Chenevey brought the hammer down on his Hornet fresh out of the nest pinning him early in the first. HWT Jason Park picked up a forfeit, but not before Joey Steinbach flattened his Hornet opponent at 220 pounds. At 106 pounds freshman Chung Do Kim won by injury default and Michael Vu picked up another Herndon forfeit. Junior Joey Nowak, anxious to step on his Hornet opponent, also received a forfeit, running the final score to 57-9.
Centreville will next host The Wildcat Duals this Saturday with action starting at 9:00 AM.
